Choti Bahu is all chiffons, sindoor, backless cholis,
singing melancholy at nights, gun and a glass of wine in tow with seduction to
the core!...but she disappointed me terribly with her 'over the top' cartoonish
character (which actually shows Tigmangshu Dhulia's lack of handling an intense
women centric subject),so instead of being lethal and dangerous, she turns
quirky at times!
Its a good sequel but since i went with the sole intention
of watching Choti Bahu's further quest for power and play with seduction, she
disappointed me! 'Mujhe sirf mard milte hai, koi shayar kiyu nahi milta' (Why
do i meet only men and not poets!), in her hunger to suppress the dominance of
her man,the Saheb, Choti bahu (like the prequel) will easily jump into bed with
the gangster to keep her man frail but alive! One of my most loved character
which could have been handled more delicately by a Vishal Bharadwaj...Irfan
Khan surprisingly is a tad bit glum this time ,but the film completely belongs
to Jimmy Shergill, enacting with a razor sharp performance with delicate nuance
and charming screen presence. I guess the best part of the film is its climax
where the director wants you craving for more, so u can't help but wait for the
next sequel to come, specially for Soha Ali Khan's character (the director
cleverly ends the film turning her into another Choti Bahu in the making!)
There are certain scenes which could have been handled more aesthetically with
far better, vivid, bolder strokes (like the symbolic use of the color red quite
frequently in the narrative)
It is perhaps one of the best sequels to come out in recent
time, because it is a perfect extension of its precursor unlike the endless
sequels that bollywood churns out every year.
