SHABDO : Listen to the sounds!!

And a weekend ends on a much happier note if its ends with a wonderful film! A well crafted, simple, yet multi layered film exploring ‘Sounds’. Dr. Louis Colaianni had once said that sound has a profound effect on the senses. It can be both herd and felt. It can even be seen with the mind’s eye. It can almost be tasted and smelled. Sound can evoke responses of the five senses. Sound can paint a picture, produce a mood, trigger the senses to remember another time and place. Sounds that can become an obsession for a master craftsman, sounds that might turn out to be a hindrance to the every day's proceedings, extraneous sounds that can turn one deaf to the voices emerging out of the vocal cords of the surrounding people.Kaushik Ganguly brilliantly captures few of the silent shots/ images in the film, at times, reminding me of Ingmar Bergman’s 'Cries and Whispers', giving ample time to play with the protagonists emotions, the camera brilliantly captures Ritwik’s inner psyche, charmingly coupled with his trademark innocence and boyish appeal. At one point, Churni Ganguly asks her professor ‘Who are we to decide listening to which sort of extraneous sounds makes one normal while others abnormal?' An unique concept of the film has been brought out towards the climax with the theme's similar reference to the double vision squint eyed concept, the concept of the slave sound/vison and the master sound/vision (which seldom shifts the center of frame of an image either towards left or right as conceived by the retina). Haven't seen much of his work, but Ritwik Chakraborty is an amazing actor, conveying exactly what is desired from him and after a long time, its good to see Churni Ganguly finally 'back on track' with a pivotal role!

Kinky can be fun, safe and it's definitely consensual!

I recently had this conversation with few of my friends (With the on going Fifty shades' (trilogy) hangover) who could not relate to the fun associated with BDSM and they couldn't stop throwing dirty looks at me when they found out that i myself (seldom!) do engage in BDSM with my partner! I understand them, either they are terrified or bestowed within their limited knowledge about the entire thing. They can't stand being abused by their dominant partners. But they don't know the fact that it can be fun, highly arousing & it's tremendously powerful! It's a great vehicle for exploring a number of different kinds of fantasies in a way that's exhilarating. To get tied up,restrained hand and foot, blindfolded by ur partner, while being played with ice cubes, molten wax, scoops of ice cream or such specific things all over ur body, being cuffed, spanked, whipped or flogged by ur partner within the preset limits of restraint/stimulation bondage, are the few ways to ignite the passion play!
BDSM isn't exactly what u see in porn! There's no harm in experimenting with sex, provided its safe, sane and consensual. And yes, BDSM isn't all about the power play of a dominant partner. Trust me, being a submissive one in bed myself, i know where to set the limit! Its a mutual decision within two consenting lovers, to which places can or can not be explored; at times, i can call a halt to the scene, whereas my dominant partner, in many ways,is simply just a facilitator. It's the dominant's job to create a setting where the things involved can explore the submissive's fantasies. BDSM need not be always exaggerated like wearing a hood and being chaned to the wall!

And for the special ladies!!

Mothers are so important na?

when u need someone to suffer for you, silently she says 'Here i am'.. she suffered when i kicked her inside her womb, she suffered when she watched her feet swell, when she underwent the inconsistent pain of bringing me to this earth, she suffered my incessant wails at night, she suffered when i tumbled, she suffered during my growing up years when i was coming to terms with my troubled teens,my worst phases (2000-2002). She suffered without complaining, without a single tear, when she found out that her son doesn't belong to the 'hetero normative' society. Even now, she suffers my wrath, she suffers my pertinacious, querulous nature. At times you blast out at her 'Why the hell did u give birth to me?' and smilingly she says 'To bear these sufferings, because these sole sufferings makes me complete, makes me the mother that i am'

So, to all you sufferers, keep suffering! and i love you all immensely..YOU R THE BEST!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY !!

Choti Bahu disappoints!!

Choti Bahu is all chiffons, sindoor, backless cholis, singing melancholy at nights, gun and a glass of wine in tow with seduction to the core!...but she disappointed me terribly with her 'over the top' cartoonish character (which actually shows Tigmangshu Dhulia's lack of handling an intense women centric subject),so instead of being lethal and dangerous, she turns quirky at times!

Its a good sequel but since i went with the sole intention of watching Choti Bahu's further quest for power and play with seduction, she disappointed me! 'Mujhe sirf mard milte hai, koi shayar kiyu nahi milta' (Why do i meet only men and not poets!), in her hunger to suppress the dominance of her man,the Saheb, Choti bahu (like the prequel) will easily jump into bed with the gangster to keep her man frail but alive! One of my most loved character which could have been handled more delicately by a Vishal Bharadwaj...Irfan Khan surprisingly is a tad bit glum this time ,but the film completely belongs to Jimmy Shergill, enacting with a razor sharp performance with delicate nuance and charming screen presence. I guess the best part of the film is its climax where the director wants you craving for more, so u can't help but wait for the next sequel to come, specially for Soha Ali Khan's character (the director cleverly ends the film turning her into another Choti Bahu in the making!) There are certain scenes which could have been handled more aesthetically with far better, vivid, bolder strokes (like the symbolic use of the color red quite frequently in the narrative)

It is perhaps one of the best sequels to come out in recent time, because it is a perfect extension of its precursor unlike the endless sequels that bollywood churns out every year.

Addicted and Accustomed to...!!

The empty coffee mug lies at the bed side table. Its 8:00 am. I opened my eyes to the glimpse of a framed portrait of us, clicked last year at Aryan's 2nd birthday. Next to it, a frail leftover cheese cake on the china dish and a half emptied glass of  wine from last night, the torn Durex wrapper lying next to it. I could hear the sound of the morning hawker crying incessantly out on the street, much to my annoyance. I turned over, snuggled up inside the blanket. Always hate it when the morning sun glistens on to my face erratically disturbing my sleep, i tried to shut my eyes off and laid my hands over his sleepwear and the book that he had been reading in the morning, 'The autobiography of Malcolm X'... why is he into too much of these biographies i wonder, i started reading once but it bored me to death, i sighed! His phone rang, careless whispers filling the air, i know he hates such phone calls, hates when he is in there, to a much needed morning shower. He used to coax me a lot before, inside for those early morning showers with him, but 'an early morning cold splash doesn't arouse me babe' had told him once. He had laughed and tickled me down there much to his pleasure and to my early morning erection. He came out 10 mins later rubbing his wet torso with the blanket, saw me awake, came over, smiled and kissed my cheeks. 'An early morning desolate wife calls her husband to come back home! Ria called, call her up' i said, tiny sprinkles of water dropping down my face from his wet hair, 'Ah ya, gotta drop Aryan to school today, she is leaving for work bit early.' he said, avoiding my sarcasm! He went and sprayed himself with the Park Avenue cologne. 'Too strong' i clinched.. 'for a much needed monday morning' he smiled and searched for his favorite briefs from the wardrobe. Within a few mins, he dressed himself to his much cherished and my much hated corporate attire, holding the steaming hot coffee mug and the Deccan herald he came and sat next to me. 'Wake up lazy bum, still naked inside!' He grinned and went back to reading the paper, i leaned over and laid my head on his lap, my face to his crotch. He stroked my hair 'Get up, u r getting late for college, will call u from office, Ria's going out for her cousin's wedding this weekend, shall we plan up for a short trip somewhere nearby?'' Ah! monday! the much hated word! another week ahead, another 5 days of not seeing each other (bless the cell phone!) another wait for the weekend, another wait for the love making sessions, but most importantly... another wait for that 'body' that i have become, in due course of time...so much addicted and accustomed to!!

KIT KAT BREAK BANTA HAIN..!! :)

They giggle at the doctor, laugh hysterically at him, the hero says a 'hi' with a toothless grin, time to groove, so one starts beating onto his drum (tiny one for his tiny little hands!), mumbling words, they make faces, time for some steps... the heroes opt for gangam style, one tiny golu molu shows her frog style 'sit and dance', shake the leg, move the bum, swirl the hands.... and overnight they become the nation's favorite dancing stars!...
from the love struck squirrel to the love birds to these dancing kids,KIT KAT does it again...and it can't get better, cuter and charmer than this!!

Race to box office success sans any logic!

And the director duo does it again, what they have been doing, and are
best in doing over the years..formula for quick success and magnanimous
grossing at the box office!

So what's the formula? A thriller that zips, zaps and zooms through
picturesque landscape, bikini/botox babes, well sculpted greek gods..out
for some revenge, settling few old scores, hatch some conspiracies, lust
for money, lay few murderous traps, ear throbbing jarring music, well
sequenced (some funny as well!) actions scenes camouflaged within layers
of style but bereft any logic or substance...garnish it with some added
flavour in the form of swindling casinos, fast cars and card games...
and what u get is a fast paced stylized action thriller !
Saif ali khan thankfully saves the show sans any eye concealer (unlike
his other 40+ 'Khan' contemporaries), Deepika and Jacqueline..the two
perfectly curved sexy sirens sportingly flaunting their gorgeous
cleavage and legs ( the latter's surgical pout adds up to the charm) and
John Abraham proves yet again that he's all brawns and no brains!

But am i complaining with the formula? Nope..coz i had my paisa as well as my pop corn fully vasool on this one!
